Omiš
The main attractions of Omiš are the fortresses that have protected the city from enemies for centuries.
The Mirabela fortress from the 13th century is located just above the old part of the city, as a permanent reminder of the famous pirate past. The old pirates used Mirabela as a vantage point from which they monitored the Brač channel, so that the rich merchant ships near Omiš could not pass unnoticed.
The city was also guarded by Fortica, a fortress from which one of the most beautiful views in the whole of Dalmatia can be seen, and which, from the center of the city, can be reached in an hour by a well-marked path, even for those in weaker shape.
From Fortica, there is a unique view of the islands of Brač, Hvar and Šolta, the Cetina canyon and the greater part of Poljica.
